Where to sail in the Caribbean
For charter, the Caribbean means first of all the British Virgin Islands (base on Tortola): dozens of islands within sight of each other, short legs and paid mooring buoys in every bay — the classic first tropical cruise. Further south are St Vincent and the Grenadines with bases on St Vincent and Grenada, plus Martinique and Guadeloupe: longer legs, islands farther apart. The easterly trade wind blows steadily at 15–20 knots. The season runs December to April; June to November is hurricane season, when boats are cheaper but the weather riskier. The fleet is mostly catamarans.

Prices: CaribbeanHow much does a week on a yacht cost in the Caribbean?
As of 28 Oct 2026, a discounted week in the Caribbean starts from €1,790 for the whole boat; half of the models are at least 15% off. Transit log, cleaning and the refundable deposit are paid at the base on top.
Which month is cheapest for a yacht charter in the Caribbean?
By the agent's latest checks (monohulls), the cheapest month is October: a median of €510 per berth per week. The most expensive is February, at €787. The most boats with 20% off or more are in November: 11%. The agent checks the current month and the next five; each month has its own page with the numbers.
Which is cheaper in the Caribbean: a catamaran or a sailing yacht?
Per berth per week in October: monohull median €510, catamaran €421. A week on a catamaran usually costs more, but it has more cabins and berths, so the price per berth is the fairer comparison. Discounted right now — catamarans: 38, monohulls: 29.
When is the best time to charter a yacht in the Caribbean?
The Caribbean season runs December to April: dry, with a steady 15–20-knot trade wind. The most expensive weeks are Christmas, New Year and February–March. June to November is hurricane season: boats are cheaper, the weather riskier; May is a transition month. The fleet is mostly catamarans, booked 4–8 months ahead.
Can I charter a yacht in the Caribbean with a skipper or crew?
Yes. Almost every boat in the selection can be taken with a hired skipper, and a cook or hostess can be added on request. The crew is paid by the day on top of the boat price, and their food on board is on you. Without a skipper's licence and a VHF certificate, a skipper is mandatory. The RYC manager books the crew together with the boat.
Which one-week route should I pick in the Caribbean?
One-week routes in the Caribbean, planned day by day: “Tortola — Virgin Gorda”, 7 days, about 90 nautical miles; “Martinique — Grenadines”, 7 days, about 190 nautical miles; “Antigua — Barbuda”, 7 days, about 95 nautical miles; “St Martin — Anguilla”, 7 days, about 85 nautical miles. Each route page has the legs, miles and overnight stops.
How far ahead should I book?
In the Mediterranean (Turkey, Greece, Croatia), you can catch hot deals 2–6 weeks ahead. For the Caribbean, the Seychelles and other exotic destinations, book early, 4–8 months ahead: fleets there are smaller and last-minute discounts almost never come up.
What's included in the boat price?
Just the boat, for a week. Usually paid separately: transit log and final cleaning, fuel, marina fees, the security deposit (or deposit insurance), a skipper, cook and hostess if you need them, and extras (SUP board, on-board Wi-Fi, coffee machine, child safety netting).
Do I need a licence to charter a yacht?
For a bareboat charter (no skipper or crew provided), yes: a skipper's licence and, as a rule, a VHF radio certificate. Without a licence, we add a skipper, paid separately from the boat price.
Why do all charters run Saturday to Saturday?
99% of charter fleets worldwide work this way: the boat comes back on Friday evening and goes out to the next crew on Saturday morning. Other changeover days are possible in low season, by arrangement. In some destinations (the Caribbean, Cuba, France) you can add days beyond the week: +1, 2, 3 or 4 days.
What is the security deposit and how is it paid?
The security deposit is your insurance excess in case of damage, usually €1,000–8,000. It is taken at the base at check-in on a credit card issued outside Russia: charter companies don't accept Russian cards or debit cards. With a hired skipper the deposit terms may be different, and not every charter company accepts a cash deposit or deposit insurance: check with the manager.

Where the numbers come from and how to cite them

You may cite the figures on this page with a link to it; every month and country is in the CSV and on the Prices page.
